Centre for Water Resources Development and Management

KSCSTE-Centre for Water Resources Development and Management (CWRDM) is a premier research institution established by the Government of Kerala in 1978. CWRDM is an R&D institution of Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), Government of Kerala. It is located 13 km east of Kozhikode (Calicut) City. The Centre has a multidisciplinary team of scientists specialized in water resources engineering, hydrology, environmental engineering and sciences, agricultural engineering and sciences, chemical sciences, hydrogeology &geophysics,biological sciences, and social sciences and supported by the technical and administrative staff.

Scientific studies on drainage basin / watersheds, integrated river basin management, surface water & groundwater resource estimation, urban & forest hydrology, water quality management, water supply and sanitation, crop water management, environmental impact assessment, estuarine and coastal dynamics, irrigation and drainage etc. is being carried out by various divisions. Advanced instruments and software’s are available in the field of isotope hydrology, remote sensing, sedimentation studies, systems studies and mathematical modeling of surface and groundwater systems and hydrochemistry.  Various research and consultancy projects are funded by different national and international agencies. The Centre has personnel trained in India and abroad on various aspects of water resources and allied topics.

CWRDM has one Auditorium, one conference hall and two lecture halls. All are A/c halls having all the necessary audio-visual facilities. Auditorium can accommodate more than 300 participants; the conference hall can accommodate 35 persons and the two lecture halls can accommodate 50 persons each. Many National and Inter-national events have already been organized in CWRDM using these facilities. 

Conference Venue (CWRDM)

KSCSTE-CWRDM is located near Kunnamangalam Township, in the eastern part of Kozhikode Corporation towards the foot hill region of Wayanad Plateau. Many other premier Academic Institutions such as Indian Institute of Management (IIM), National Institute of Technology (NIT-C) and KSCSTE – Kerala School of Mathematics (KSoM) are also located in and around this region. The city is well-connected to all the major cities of India by road, rail and air.

By Road : The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Bus Station is about 12 kms from CWRDM. Major cities in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are linked to Kozhikode by state-run and private bus services. Local connecting buses are also available between the Palayam Bus stand and CWRDM and can take about 45 minutes. Taxis and auto rickshaws are available outside the station and at all places for travelling.

By Rail : CWRDM is situated at a distance of 13 km from Kozhikode Railway Station. Kozhikode railway station is well connected via Konkan Railway, Chennai-Mangalore route and Thiruvanathapuram-Mangalore route.

By Air : CWRDM is about 33 kms from Kozhikode International Airport. Several direct flights from the Middle East and connecting flights from Singapore, Malaysia and Sri Lanka connect the city to the world. Several domestic services are operated from Chennai, Mumbai and Bangalore to Kozhikode. The Cochin International Airport is about 173 km away from CWRDM; have several domestic and international flights connecting all the major cities in India
